Losing weight by eating in moderation

Diet Plans
Wed, Mar 5 2008

It is possible to come up with over a hundred different kinds of tips for weight loss. Some tips would be hard because they involve counting calories, while others are just easy guidelines, which when followed correctly, weight loss becomes easy. One of these simple weight loss concepts is to always eat in moderation.

This moderation concept is actually very important in just about any diet. If you eat to much, you will store excess energy in the form of fat. When you eat in moderation, you will burn all of the excess fat. It's really that easy. This moderation concept is at the same time the explanation for the large number of overweight people in the US. Many Americans just eat way to much!

But you can't blame them, really. Many Americans don't even get a chance. Everything is being sold in such large portions. You've got huge T-bone steaks, XXL Colas at the movies, big bags of potato chips, all you can eat restaurants and junk food of which the packaging costs more than the junk food itself, resulting in rediculously large portions of ... everything!

Moderation is key at AlmostFit.com

Metroknow from Almost Fit is one of the many Americans to admit he's overweight. He admits to have eaten way more than needed and calls himself a "card-carrying member of the TV, Coca Cola and fast food generation". But after a trip to Paris, things suddenly changed for Metroknow:

I visited Paris, France, briefly several years ago on a whirlwind trip with my wife and our 7-month old son, and I discovered that my brief taste of Parisian culture (romanticized I will admit) resonated with me more than any other culture I have ever experienced. I loved the city. I loved the attitude toward life. I loved the art and architecture. The language. The books. The people. The sense of history. The multiculturalism. The idea of supporting local small businesses that have, in some cases, been there for centuries.

I could go on.

But in particular, I was intrigued by their methods and practices of eating incredibly decadent foods without gaining a pound.

How was this possible?

Good question. I must admit I did not know what the answer was going to be at this point. By reading this post, you do know the answer already... Yes, indeed... Moderation is what keeps those frenchies so thin!

Since that trip to Paris Metroknow has made a commitment to start eating healthier and lose that excess weight. Everything about Metroknow's journey to a healthier lifestyle and more info about eating in moderation can be found at his Almost Fit blog. Definitely a blog worth bookmarking!

A Big Thank You
written by Metroknow - AlmostFit.com , March 06, 2008

Hi Nico,

Thank you SO much for article. I really do appreciate it. And it is all true, especially the "card carrying member" part. :)

I've reached a crossroads in my life where I think I can finally, finally get my head around what I need to do to improve my health. Eating Real Food in Moderation is a big change for me, but it is working, I'm enjoying it, and (maybe most importantly) I'm not going crazy with the wild ups and downs of every diet I've ever tried.

Thanks again - I'm definitely a regular reader here as well.

Best,
Metroknow
